The 2010 IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The mission of the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial, which is located in the shadow of Pike’s Peak, is to honor the sacrifice made by IAFF members who serve as professional fire fighters and emergency medical personnel who have given their lives in the line of duty. Since its creation in 1976 through June 2009, the names of 2,274 fallen IAFF members have been engraved into the wall of honor located behind the memorial. The IAFF ensures that the ceremony remains an uplifting one for the families, friends and loved ones, and that it celebrates the lives, heroism and accomplishments of our union’s bravest of the brave.

This year, two of our members will be honored at this ceremony, Frederick L. Perry who passed away on November 13, 2009 and Victor S. Rollins who passed away on February 26, 2009.

The phones lines for TeleStaff are now active.  The phone number for incoming and outgoing calls is 202-299-3333.   If you receive a call from TeleStaff it will prompt you to enter the password that you use to log into TeleStaff/Webstaff.  If you are using a phone with a keyboard like Blackberries and your password has a letter in it, you will need to know what number corresponds to that letter. An example would be ABC=2 on a standard phone.  Members should consider using only numbers for their password if they experience problems logging into TeleStaff.

DO NOT ATTEMPT MORE THAN 2 TRIES TO LOG IN.  If you fail on the third attempt you will be locked out of the system.

For additional information please view the TeleStaff Phone Guidelines.

A Message to President Sneed from Council Chairman Phil Mendelson:

Ray, I put language in our committee report which was adopted unanimously by the committee, this afternoon, recommending that the Council restore the step increases for FEMS personnel – reject the Mayor’s proposal to freeze step increases for 17 months.  As I stated to you and other members of Local 36 earlier this week, I am committed to seeking Council approval.  FEMS personnel should be treated the same as MPD personnel in this matter and I expects that the funds will be found by the time the Council votes on the budget May 26th.
